Pollock Executive Chairs for Knoll in Navy Leather with Black Rim

Charles Pollock was a master of design who's work was supported by Florence Knoll and her company, Knoll. Pollock's understanding of design taught him that every object has an edge and every object has a line. This notion propelled him in a direction which he called "Rim Technology". The rim of this version of the chair is done in black.

The primary design element in his Pollock Executive Chair is an extruded aluminum edge, Pollock's "Rim", which runs along the entire edge of the seat. This single piece of engineering is the core of his design as it serves many purposes. The rim serves as a bumper which protects the more delicate aspects of the design, and most importantly it acts as the single joinery mechanism giving the chair rigidity between its shell back and upholstered front. It's a quiet design, some say Florence Knoll herself influenced Pollock to place importance in subtlety, it is however ubiquitous in the modern workplace and the essence of Pollocks design has certainly influenced the world of office chair design to this day.
